Jules Verne wrote about Phileas Fogg travelling around the world in 80 days. We did the same, but visited embassies to learn about Hydrogen. The key points from their missions, visions and implementations reflect that this is a long-term introduction, each country has different objectives but each identifies where hydrogen has value.
Strong points per country:
UK
Pro-actively identified H2 to solve grid issues
France
Ambition to lead, 7 Bn grants, production through nuclear energy
Italy
Complexity understood, co-operation, 10 Bn grants, production through solar energy
Greece
Focus on the maritime sector
Egypt
Hub ambition, creating a sourcing national usage
Yemen
Other priorities
India
Essential to make heavy-duty industries green
Japan
Leadership ambitions, 800 000 car target 2030
US
One strategic objective is for 1 kg H2 for $ 1 in 10 years
Ireland
One strategic objective to export H2, production on wind energy
From the embassadies we traveled to Hydrogen valley, where we witnessed pilot projects, sand boxes, applications such as busses, garbage collection, barbecues, houses on a hydrogen network, hydrogen bikes and bumped into a hydrogen taxi.
This has given us a 360 degrees view on hydrogen. Jules Verne said that water is the energy source of the future, we agree obviously subject to electrolysation. Hydrogen will be here soon and it will be here to stay.
