Raamsdonksveer, February 6, 2025 – We are excited to announce a spectacular finish location! This year, the finish line will be at the iconic Louwman & Parqui, the Dutch importer of Toyota and Lexus, located in Raamsdonksveer. This event promises to be a milestone in the world of sustainable mobility.
Why Hydrogen?
Interest in hydrogen as a sustainable energy source and in mobility has grown explosively in recent years, partly due to grid congestion issues. For heavy transport and long distances, driving on hydrogen is also a good alternative to battery-electric driving. With the recent introduction of the SWiM scheme (Subsidie Waterstof in Mobiliteit), the government offers significant financial support for the development of hydrogen refueling stations and vehicles. This scheme encourages companies to switch to hydrogen, which is not only good for the environment but can also be economically attractive.
The Need for Greening
The need to green vans and trucks is more urgent than ever. From 2025, zero-emission zones will be introduced in various cities, meaning that only emission-free vehicles may enter these zones. Hydrogen vehicles offer an excellent solution to this challenge, not only for heavy transport over long distances but also for vans due to the greater range and larger load capacity in the vehicle.
Louwman & Parqui: A Pioneer in Sustainability
Louwman & Parqui, located in the impressive geodesic dome in Raamsdonksveer, has been the driving force behind the introduction of innovative and sustainable mobility solutions in the Netherlands since 1964. With their focus on quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, they are the perfect host for the finish of the 24-Hour Hydrogen Challenge.
An Economic Advantage
Hydrogen not only offers environmental benefits but can also be attractive from a business perspective. The shorter refueling time, the large range, the independence from charging stations, and the possibility to benefit from subsidies make hydrogen vehicles a smart investment for companies that want to green their fleet.
